Dr. Lillian Mobley – National Woman of Courage

NWPC South Bay, and All of Los Angeles, Has Lost One of Its Greatest Community Leaders
Dr. Lillian Mobley, NWPC South Bay Vice President of Programs and one of the founders of Martin Luther King Hospital, passed away Monday evening, July 18 2011, at Centinela Hospital.
Lillian served on the board of the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, where she worked tirelessly to help the hospital. As an advocate for those who needed the most help, Lillian served her community for more than 50 years.
She was also the 2009 recipient of the NWPC Woman of Courage Award, and on July 9, 2011 NWPC South Bay awarded the first Lillian Mobley Grassroots Catalyst Award to Congresswoman Elect Janice Hahn.
She will be remembered as a mentor to the women of NWPC South Bay and as an invaluable member of the Caucus, who never allowed her physical limitations to interfere with her service to her community. She will be dearly missed.

NWPC South Bay members vigorously helped with her campaign. Despite predictions of her victory the campaign took nothing for granted, and tirelessly worked to get her elected.
NWPC South Bay held a phone party in Palos Verdes where members and friends called Congressional residents. On Saturday July 9, 2011 NWPC South Bay held a fundraising event that featured Congresswomen Maxine Waters, Laura Richardson, Grace Napolitano, and Diane Watson (ret.). The four Congressional women welcomed Janice to the sisterhood of South Bay Congresswomen.
NWPC South Bay President, Dr. Carmen Schaye, congratulated South Bay members and stated that,
“We have walked precincts, given money, and done phone banking for all the Congressional women, and all the elected women in the South Bay. We send a message to Washington, there is no negotiation on choice.”
Janice Hahn Sworn Into House of Representatives on July 19, 2011.
